Sleepwalk with Me

A small group of us storytellers recently got together to go see the current, reigning king of storytelling, Mike Birbiglia’s, new movie “Sleepwalk with Me.” Mike Birbiglia is a comedian, a writer, and a storyteller. “Sleepwalk with Me” is based on his true, personal story as told on “This American Life.” Ira Glass co-produced the movie.

I know I am straying from Better Said Than Done news with this post, but I am just so excited to see a storyteller have such success. It shows how much audiences crave true and personal stories.

And the movie was a success. It was fun and funny and touching and overall a great story. If you are reading this, I assume you love storytelling, so I can’t say this strongly enough – GO SEE THIS MOVIE! (Just not on September 29th, because that’s our next show.) “Sleepwalk with Me” is playing in Fairfax at the Cinema Arts Theater and in DC at the E Street Cinema. Check it out before it goes away.

I hope Mike Birbiglia will continue doing stand-up and storytelling now that he is a big time movie director. I have seen him perform live and his shows are always fantastic. But after watching “Sleepwalk with Me,” I guess I wouldn’t be too sad if he just keeps writing and directing funny, crazy, and interesting movies based on his life stories. I’d go see the next one!
