Your Business Story

In our workshop, “Your Business Story,” students work on telling the story of their business, association, or non-profit.  A story is a compelling way to move someone to action – whether it’s buying, joining, or donating.  When a person can relate, on a personal level, to what you offer professionally, you can be sure he or she will be more likely to buy into it.

Now, most businesses have many stories to tell, and our goal for this workshop is to help students learn to craft one main compelling story and be able to take the skills learned in the class to apply them to additional stories.

One student had this to say: “I signed up for this class to prepare for an opportunity to present at an upcoming TED talk and received some solid ideas about how to hone my story. Jessica and Anne provided a safe, fun, and supportive environment for us to stretch our skills at storytelling. Thanks!” CK

The class includes workshop exercises to get students to understand how to create a “character” out of their business, how to incorporate story structure into their corporate tale, and how to up the stakes in their marketing materials.

There are breakout sessions where students work on crafting their tale, and have some one on one time with the instructors.  Once students have had time to work on writing their stories, they share them with the whole group, gaining feedback not just from the teachers, but from the other students as well.

Our next “Your Business Story” workshop is on February 2, 2013.

Registration is now open.  You must register and pay in advance to take the class.
