Memorial Stories

May’s Better Said Than Done storytelling show fell on Memorial Day weekend and so we paid tribute to our soldiers and memorialized our families with our true, personal stories at The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax, VA.

Jack Scheer hosted “Memorial: stories of soldiers, service and saying goodbye.”

Mel Pine started the spoken word storytelling show off with a story about his brother-in-law. Watch Mel’s video.

Davine Ker’s story was about saying goodbye. Watch her video.

Veteran storyteller Richard Barr talked about his time serving in the military. Watch his Army story here.

First time Better Said Than Done storyteller Erin Benbenneck shared a story about volunteering for the USO. Watch here.

Jack Scheer shared a mini story about saying goodbye to a marriage. Watch Jack Scheer’s story.

Another veteran, Jack Pelar, told a true tale of his time in the Navy. Watch here.

Better Said Than Done founder Jessica Piscitelli Robinson memorialized her father in this spoken word tribute. The spoken words, in this case, involve a lot of swear words. Consider yourself warned and then watch the story here.

Paul White shared his story of service in an adventure upon a Russian ship. Watch Paul White’s storytelling here.

Thank you to Jack Scheer for doing the most wonderful job hosting, to all the storytellers for sharing their truly personal stories, to The Auld Shebeen for continuing to feed us and ply us with great beer, and to you, the audience, for coming to our shows, sharing our posts, and being part of the Better Said Than Done community.
