Travel Stories Show Recap

You know it’s a great night of storytelling when someone says to you, at the end of the night, “I am so glad someone finally told a story about a UTI!” Yes folks, we hit all the hard topics at Better Said Than Done.

Cara Foran kicked off “Traveling Man: stories of pit stops, journeys, and the beaten path” with her new boots and a great story about almost being eaten alive by a lion! Michael Zhuang dealt with a different kind of nightmare, trying to survive a trip to Spain after having everything stolen from him on his first day there.

Our next storyteller was a first time teller. Mattie Cohan, lawyer by day, storytelling ingenue by night, got the beJesus scared out of her when she made said the wrong thing at the Vatican. Katie Kelly brought the first half of the night to a close with her tale of the highs and woes of bike commuting.

After the break for more delicious food and drink from the lovely staff at Epicure Cafe, Jessica Piscitelli Robinson talked about her travails trying to start her honeymoon travel. Jeremy Strozer went to Vietnam to try to clean up some mines and somehow ended up in a chili pepper eating contest.

Miriam Nadel went to Africa and ended up finding Middle Earth. And Mike Baireuther told a story about how he and his girlfriend spent a night in a hostel that was almost, but not quite, as scary as the one in that movie “Hostel.”

Lions, and hostels, and muggers, oh my! What a great night of great stories.

If you want to see Virginia’s best storytelling show, or are just looking for a great night out, don’t miss our next show – “Where the Wild Things Are: stories of parties, crazy nights, and monsters.” October 27th at Epicure Cafe in Fairfax, VA!
