Better Said Than Done’s 5 Year Anniversary Show and Story Contest is just around the corner. The 10 storytellers in the line-up – selected through an online competition – will be giving it their all as they vie for audience members’ votes for favorite story of the show. We’re giving you the opportunity to learn more about them before the big night. First up: Anne Thomas.
Name: Anne Thomas
Age: 58
Profession: lawyer
Town where you live: Washington, DC
Website: annebthomas.com
When did you first start telling stories on stage? 2011
What was the first story you told about? Getting busted for making fun of art.
What’s your favorite storytelling moment? The first time I shared a very vulnerable moment in a story, the audience was utterly silent. I could feel their total attention. It was scary and empowering.
Any other hobbies or avocations you’d like to share? I’m writing a memoir, and I love to travel and tame my two cats.
What’s your favorite fictional story? Charlotte’s Web
Since the anniversary show is at Jammin’ Java, how do you take your coffee? A latte with a shot of vanilla.
As you know, Jammin’ Java is in Vienna, Virginia. Ever been to that other Vienna, in Austria? Yes, I have! It’s beautiful. I had coffee at Café Central, the favorite café of Freud, Lenin, and Hitler.
