Storyteller Liezel MunsonName: Liezel A. Munson

Age: 35

Profession: banker

County where you live: Loudoun County, VA

When did you first start telling stories on stage? Last May, with Better Said Than Done. It was my first show and I was 30 weeks pregnant. 🙂

What was the first story you told about? My first story was a childhood story of when my father kicked me and my brother out of the house. My father kicked us out because we fought like crazy and even packed our bags for us. (He confined us to our own backyard.) But my brother and I hung outside for hours because we didn’t think he’d do it. Granted, my father watched us the whole time but, as kids, we didn’t know! We were then forced to work our differences out and, when we did, my father saw we made up and invited us back in.

What’s your favorite storytelling moment? When I told my story about my grandmother and I called her an Ewok.

Any other hobbies or avocations you’d like to share? I love traveling, performing improvisational comedy, watching movies (I’m a bit of a cinephile), and trying new things!

What’s your favorite fictional story? That is so hard! My taste ranges, based on my mood, but my current favorite (that I can watch on repeat) is Shaun of the Dead. That film could be on repeat and would never be old for me. I love Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright. They make great flicks!

We’re asking all of the storytellers how they take their coffee, as a nod to Jammin’ Java, where you’ll be performing in a few weeks.  Your reply? That’s a toughie as I don’t drink coffee. I mean, I’m short and coffee would stunt my growth. I want to be tall like Cindy Crawford. Wait, did I just quote the movie Clueless? Yep. I did.

Have you been to Vienna before? Never been to Vienna in Austria, but I have been to the Vienna Metro stop here in the DC area. Does that count? 🙂
