At Better Said Than Done, we believe that everyone has a story to tell, and everyone can be a storyteller, given the right tools. There are techniques involved in crafting a good story, a story that people will love to hear! To help bring out that story and those skills, Better Said Than Done offers workshops on the art of storytelling.
Class sizes are limited. Students must register and pay in advance of each workshop in order to attend. Most workshops are held in Fairfax County, VA, but email jessica at bettersaidthandone dot com about having a customized storytelling workshop or presentation at your office or conference.

Spotlight on You: Telling the story of your life
A 3.5 hour workshop where you will learn structure, character building, and how to win the audience over, through our teacher’s method of storytelling coaching. For storytellers of all levels. Students should come with an idea for a story and will leave with a story ready to tell.

Your Business Story: Crafting your company tale
Motivate volunteers for your cause, move prospects to sign on as clients and convince investors yours is the right business by telling your story. After this half-day workshop, which focuses on how to write a compelling story, students will leave with stories to use as content for their website, brochure, and elevator speech. Stories are workshopped with teachers and other students, lending many different perspectives on your business tale.

Take the Stage: Storytelling for Performance
Three classes, over three weeks, to help you develop secondary characters, dialogue, non-linear structure, enhanced performance skills, and stories of varying lengths to be performed on stage. Students are encouraged to pick an upcoming show to prepare for during this three week workshop.

Better Said Than Done Founder Jessica Piscitelli Robinson has been writing fiction since elementary school. She went on to writing scripts and studying filmmaking at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and has been a regular commentator on WAMU, DC’s NPR station. Prior to discovering storytelling for the stage, she ran a screenwriting workshop for six years. Jessica performed her first story in 2007 and has been addicted ever since – performing stories for Story District, Fan-Freaking-Tastic, TEDx, the Grapevine, McLean Bible Church, Stories in the Round, the Reston Nature House and any venue or corporate event in need of a great story. She has led storytelling workshops for Marie Stopes International, INOVA Fairfax Hospital, George Washington University School of Business, Johns Hopkins University, AHRQ and for several non profit and corporate clients, as well as regularly teaching Better Said Than Done storytelling workshops. Her urban fantasy novel, Caged, was published in October 2016 and she’s a co-author of the anthology Roar: True Tales of Women Warriors. Jessica also teaches workshops at The Insight Shop, in Vienna, VA.
Mary Supley Foxworth is an accomplished and creative communications professional with more than 20 years of experience developing, leading, and managing successful communications, outreach, advocacy, and fundraising efforts. She enjoys developing strategies, including the sharing of stories, to maximize stakeholder and public engagement, build the brand of an organization, and increase internal productivity. Ms. Supley Foxworth is adept at writing, editing, conducting media training, and communicating complex scientific or technical information to lay audiences. In the past, she has worked with non-profit organizations, human services providers, public health and nutrition researchers, culinary professionals and hospitality businesses, performing and visual arts organizations, and IT companies. Ms. Supley Foxworth has been telling stories with Better Said Than Done since 2013. She’s a co-author of the anthology Roar: True Tales of Women Warriors.
Since stories often include adult material, classes are designed for students 18 years of age or older. You must register and pay in advance to attend a class.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after registration. In extenuating circumstances, to be determined solely by Better Said Than Done, Inc., a voucher for attendance at another Better Said Than Done workshop of equal or lesser value may be offered. Additional fees may be required.
Substitutions for persons attending can be made in advance without charge. In the event of circumstances beyond its control, Better Said Than Done reserves the right to amend or cancel any event.
