It rained cats and dogs in April. And sheep. And mice.
At “Man’s Best Friend,” our April storytelling show at The Auld Shebeen in Fairfax, VA, we heard true, personal stories about all kinds of pets. The hostess with the mostess, Liezel Munson, scared the packed audience into behaving while introducing each of the night’s storytellers.
First time storyteller Alex Dixon told first, with a sweet tail about a not always perfectly sweet dog named Sweetie.
Our second first time storyteller of the night, Tamara Lords, told second. This graduate of the Better Said Than Done storytelling workshop “Spotlight on You,” shared a true story about a less than friendly cat and his less than friendly master.
Stacy Crickmer, the third and final first time storyteller and fellow graduate of our storytelling workshop, explored how relationships come in many shapes and sizes and degrees of fur.
The token male storyteller of the night, Richard Barr, served us up a true story about a little lamby named, appropriately, Lamberta.
Sandra Hull closed out the first half of the night with a tearful tale of Miss Maggie McGee.
After some more delicious food and even more delicious beer from the staff at The Auld Shebeen, the live show continued with Mattie Cohan’s gigantic cat, that was not a cat.
No one should accuse storyteller Jennifer Greene of being afraid of mice, though the argument could be made.
And the dog days were over when Colleen Pelar finally relented and allowed a cat into her life.
Thanks to all who told, all who watched, and all who helped make this show worthy of man, Fido, Fluffy and all our furry friends.
Don’t miss our 5 year anniversary show at Jammin’ Java on May 28th.
