We start the work week off with a Q&A with Anna Marie Trester. Anna is one of the 10 talented storytellers in the line-up – selected through an online competition (here’s the story Anna submitted) – who will be performing in Better Said Than Done’s 5 Year Anniversary Show and Story Contest.
Age: 43
Profession: linguist, storyteller
Town where you live: Arlington, VA
Website: careerlinguist.com (You can also find me @careerlinguist on Twitter and Facebook.)
When did you first start telling stories on stage? About five years ago.
What was the first story you told about? A zany trip to Paris involving a door that broke off its hinges, a fish tank that exploded, and a very disoriented bird.
What’s your favorite storytelling moment? I love taking a little moment in time and slowing it down on stage. In one of my favorites stories, I describe how my dad peels an orange.
Any other hobbies you’d like to share? Lately, I have spent most of my free time listening to Hamilton, the musical.
What’s your favorite fictional story? A Room with a View
Since the anniversary show is at Jammin’ Java, how do you take your coffee? Iced, STRONG, and with just a splash of cream.
And since you’ll be performing in Vienna, Virginia, have you ever been to that other Vienna, in Austria? No, but I am accepting any and all offers.
Anna will be telling a brand new story at our show in May and will be competing for votes from the audience for favorite story of the night!
