Storytellers Workin’ It

Host Jennifer Greene and storytellers Jack Scheer, Miriam Nadel, Richard Barr, Holly Seibold, Jack Pelar, Tracy Cody and Robert Lovejoy worked hard in our April spoken word storytelling show at The Auld Shebeen in downtown Fairfax, VA. In “Gettin’ Busy: stories of work, chores and business time” storytellers shared true, personal stories about everything from unknown powdery substances to satanic cats.

Capture Video videotapes most of our storytelling shows at The Auld Shebeen, so even if you weren’t there, you can almost feel like you were.

Below are photos and videos of each of our storytellers. But with storytelling, as with most live events, you really have to be there to experience it in all it’s glory. Be there next on May 19th at our 7 year anniversary celebration and storytelling show!

Watch Richard Barr’s story about the gun he used for work.

In Holly Seibold’s story, we learned all about the importance of feminine hygiene.

Jack Pelar took on the chore of replacing a few little things in his old house.

First time storyteller Tracy Cody – a storytelling workshop graduate – shared a story about some birds who had nested in a most inconvenient place.

In addition to her role as host, Jennifer Greene also told a story, about what it’s like to find the right career, despite others’ advice.

Jack Scheer – who will be teaching the June 9th storytelling workshop at The Insight Shop in Vienna, VA – shared a tale of some misplaced, unidentified white powder.

We heard Miriam Nadel’s story of growing up back in the days when women didn’t have the cool job opportunities men had.

And Robert Lovejoy transported us back to the future – the future of ice cream.

Our work as storytellers is to connect with the audience. Our job as Better Said Than Done is to build a strong storytelling community in Northern Virginia. The storytellers of Gettin Busy performed their stories, and their duty, with alacrity. I hope you’ll come to a storytelling show or take a storytelling workshop and join the community we’re building.

Our next show is “Rites of Passage,” May 16th at the Lake Anne Coffee House in Reston, VA

Then we’re back at The Auld Shebeen on May 19th (NOT OUR USUAL SATURDAY) for our 7 year anniversary party and storytelling show. The storytelling show is FREE as a thank you to all of our storytellers – past and future – and to the Northern Virginia community that has filled our audience for the past 7 years. Join us for the night and the next 7 years!
